Clare McCann is the Head of Speech Science in the School of Psychology (since 2018). This includes the MSLTPrac, an externally-accredited two-year taught Masters degree leading to a qualification as a speech-language therapist. She teaches in courses in each semester of the degree with her main focus being acquired communication difficulties.
She is co-leading a Health Research Council Health Delivery grant (2023-2026) which aims to to improve communication accessibility in stroke services in Aotearoa, based on a commitment to engagement where the identity and mana of each person are recognised and supported through relational practice.
