I teach Database Systems at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I focus on how research in database design theory informs practice in industry.

My postgraduate project students work on a variety of projects, from theory to application, in machine learning and cybersecurity. The students come from different programmes, and each programme has a different goal. The Data Science students partner with industry to carry out a research and development project. The ICT Graduate School students carry out a project that is typically central to the needs of a company. The Masters students do a one year research project, that may lead to a job or PhD research.

Some of the projects that my students have worked on recently include:
- an adversarial attack on neural networks for time series forecasting
- predicting dementia from routinely collected data
- detecting and interpreting drift in evolving data streams
- membership inference via backdooring
- learning and adapting continuously in data streams
- an adaptive approach to efficient dynamic neural networks with experience replay

I have published at top conferences in Computer Science education, describing experiences running bootcamp style programming courses and evaluating team dynamics in group projects.
