BIO
The scientific activity of Giovanni Coco is mainly related to coastal oceanography, hazards and interactions between physical and biological processes. The approach is primarily based on Complex System Science and involves a mix of numerical modeling with field and laboratory observations. More recently, he has focused on nonlinear techniques for data analysis (genetic algorithms, artificial neural networks) applying them to a variety of bio-geophysical problems. He has been PI in projects funded by national organizations in the USA, New Zealand and Spain.
