I am a public policy researcher and PhD candidate at Griffith University (School of Government and International Relations). Based in Tāmaki Makaurau, I have previously taught as a GTA in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in public policy and politics at the University of Auckland, and am currently assisting on Politics 757, Comparative Public Policy. As a Pākehā and tangata Tiriti researcher, I am committed to honouring and embedding accountability to te Tiriti o Waitangi in all I do. My PhD research has focused on progressive tax reform in Australia and New Zealand, and on the political economy of strategic coalition-building to contest or support such reform. Other research focuses on family and welfare policy, budget analysis, tax policy, and indigenous justice and accountability in the te Tiriti o Waitangi context, as well as in comparative international contexts. More broadly, my research examines how public policy responds to and shapes social and economic problems in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond, engaging in a range of theoretical and empirical approaches to examining this.
