Director of Clinical Education for the Masters in Speech-language Therapy Prac at The University of Auckland. Philippa has recently completed her doctorate studies, which explored 'Speaking Up' and New Graduates in Allied Health. Her research and teaching interests include the following topics: interprofessional education and collaborative practice, professional supervision, clinical education and leadership.

The Speech Sciences programme at The University of Auckland, New Zealand, MSLTPrac, includes a graduate entry master’s programme for 40 students, for which Philippa is responsible for the clinical curriculum. In addition to ensuring that the programme graduates competent students, Philippa is keenly interested in interprofessional education and exploring innovative ways to enhance interprofessional collaboration. This involves large-scale projects with the local hospital, interprofessional student clinics and interprofessional simulation activities.

In addition to a keen interest in interprofessional education and collaborative practice, Philippa co-facilitates workshops for supervisors of students and graduate clinicians on professional supervision together with Massey University, Canterbury University, Fiona Howard and Erica Hodgson. She is a member of the Supervision Collective Aotearoa and regularly provides external professional supervision for speech-language therapists and other allied health and education professionals.

Areas of Expertise:
My key area of interest and expertise is in clinical education. Over the last 15 years, I have expanded my clinical teaching from the realm of speech science into an interprofessional setting with a keen focus on interprofessional education. In addition to this, I have a lot of clinical experience and skills working in the area of adult neurorehabilitation, in particular, Parkinson's disease. My current research focuses on clinical/professional supervision, clinical education, interprofessional education, and client-centred healthcare/education models.
