BIO

Dr Rohan O. C. King is a cognitive neuroscientist in the School of Psychology at the University of Auckland. He obtained his PhD in Psychology at the University of Auckland under the supervision of Prof Ian J. Kirk, completing in 2022. His research investigates the neural dynamics and mechanics of executive cognitive functions such as cognitive control and working memory, and interventions that may improve cognition or its substrates – for example, via modulation of neural plasticity. To do this, he uses neuroimaging methods (magneto/electroencephalography, magnetic resonance imaging, pharmaco-imaging) alongside behaviour in experiments with high-density measurement, dense sampling, and double-blind controlled designs.

“I am interested in how we make sense of our experience of existing, how we decode and encode the present moment in our energetic state. I am fascinated by the mechanics and dynamics of the brain that may underlie our mental puissance.”
