Sim Yang, founder of Impact English and Impact Chinese, a novel concept of learning English and Chinese in the Chinese community; senior English teacher at home and abroad, director of Impact Education Ltd. and YSY Education Ltd., columnist, special contributor, and overseas consultant of Overseas English and English Salon magazines - two China-based English-learning magazines. A native of Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, and a permanent resident of New Zealand, Sim has studied, worked, and lived in New Zealand for over 20 years. Sim went abroad to study in 2002 to realize his English career dream. After graduating from several universities in New Zealand Sim completed eight degrees and certificates: Master of Teaching (Secondary) from the University of Auckland, Master of Arts in Language Teaching and Learning from the University of Auckland, Master of Professional Studies in Translation from the University of Auckland,  Bachelor of Management Studies with Double Majors (from the University of Waikato, Certificate in Language Teaching by UNITEC Institute of Technology, CELTA Certificate by the University of Cambridge, Certificate in Teacher Professional Development Languages by the Ministry of Education and the University of Auckland, Certificate in Translation (full member) by New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters. Sim has established educational training centers on Auckland's North Shore, dedicated to supporting children of Chinese heritage. He serves as English, Chinese and math teacher and has gained consistent commendations from parents and students alike. In order to continuously improve the academic rigor of teaching and set an example of lifelong learning, Sim is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Linguistics at the University of Auckland, striving to integrate training, teaching, and research seamlessly.

Sim Yang was born on June 1, 1980 in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. He studied in the Third Primary School and Middle School of the Zhanjiang Harbour Bureau  of Tiaoshun Island in Zhanjiang and the Fourth Middle School of Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China. In June 2002, Sim went abroad to study in order to realize his dream of English career. One week before he went abroad, Sim completed the draft of an innovative concept of "Impact English" which was original and packed with interesting self-experiences. On August 24, 2003, Zhanjiang Evening News published the front page headline An Impact Uniquely Produced on English Learning - Interview with an Overseas Student from Zhanjiang: Sim Yang. On January 31, 2004, Zhanjiang Daily published a feature article entitled "Zhanjiang has an English Name Card" in its second page under the subtitle "Sim Yang, a New Zealand Chinese student from Zhanjiang, launched an English website to promote Zhanjiang...". On May 27, 2009, Zhanjiang Evening News published an article titled "Doudou" will always be your "fan" with the subtitle "A letter from a father to his son". Since 2010, Sim Yang has published various English learning articles in Overseas English magazine, further spreading the concept of Impact English. 

杨斯毅，冲击波英语创始人, 冲击波中文创始人，国内外资深英语教师。冲击波教���培训有限公司与杨斯毅教育有限公司负责人，《海外英语》和《英语沙龙》杂志特约撰稿人、海外顾问。广东省湛江市人，新西兰永久居民。现居新西兰奥克兰市, 2002年为圆英文事业梦而出国留学，在新西兰多所国立大学就读毕业，完成了八个学位证书的学习：奥克兰大学中学教育硕士、奥克兰大学应用语言学硕士、奥克兰大学翻译硕士、怀卡托大学管理学双学士、新西兰UNITEC理工大学语言教学证书、英国剑桥大学CELTA证书、新西兰教育部与奥克兰大学联合专家教师职业发展证书、新西兰口译笔译协会翻译证书。杨斯毅在奥克兰北岸创办并运营教育培训中心，致力于帮助华裔儿童全面发展。他教授英语、中文与数学课程，深受家长和学生一致好评。为不断提升教学的学术质量与深度，并以身作则倡导终身学习，他目前正在奥克兰大学攻读应用语言学博士（PhD in Applied Linguistics），力求将培训、教学与研究融为一体。

杨斯毅于1980年6月1日出生于广东湛江，曾就读湛江市调顺岛港务局第三小学、中学，湛江市第四中学。2002年6月为圆英文事业梦而出国留学，留学前一周杨斯毅完成了完全自主独创的 “冲击波英语”理念与学说的写作。2003年8月24日，《湛江晚报》刊登头版头条《这股“冲击波”不寻常——访湛江籍留新学生杨斯毅》。2004年1月31日，《湛江日报》在第二版以 "杨斯毅，一位湛江籍的新西兰留学生，推出了一个推介湛江的英文网站，从此——" 为副标题, 刊登了《湛江有了英文“名片”》一文。2009年5月27日，《湛江晚报》的银发族专栏以 “父亲给儿子的一封信” 为副标题，刊登了《“豆豆”永远是你的"粉丝"》一文。2010年起，杨斯毅在《海外英语》发表各类英语学习文章，冲击波英语的理念得到进一步的传播。

Born in a family of teachers, Sim was carefully educated by a top-grade Chinese teacher and a first-class English teacher every day – his dad and his mum! Constantly hearing and observing his teacher parents’ interesting class presentations, seeing and feeling familiar teachers’ lovely characters, often times he envies them for their lofty profession. For as long as he could remember, there seemed to be continuously weekly visits from different parents to thank his teacher parents.

So profoundly influenced by his beloved parents, Sim's had a dream since he was a child, that is, he's been looking forward to becoming a teacher like mum and dad in order to “propagate the doctrine, impart professional knowledge, and resolve doubts”, not merely because of appreciating teachers' knowledgeable status, and sometimes innovative presenting styles, more importantly, he deeply felt the social significance of the teaching profession. Also, he valued the image of teachers as often called gardeners, candles, loving mothers, silkworms, and "the engineers of human souls". After approximately two decades of working hard, he finally realized his dreams to embark on academic research with his much-desired doctoral study and to become a teacher in New Zealand. He has taught students from diverse backgrounds. It is the dream of going out to see the world, the ideal of "propagating the doctrine, imparting professional knowledge, and resolving doubts", the influence of the two top-grade language teachers and his unswerving efforts that make his dreams come true. 

After being a teacher, Sim thoroughly realizes that it is important to teach students language so that they can use it for better mutual understanding, for various communicative purposes, and for achieving practical goals in their life and career. Task-based Language teaching, as a well-researched pedagogy and one with a down-to-earth connection with real-life use of language, appears to be the way forward to better foreign language teaching for the above-mentioned ends. Therefore, Sim has undertaken Ph.D. research into the challenge and benefits of TBLT in the teaching of Chinese Mandarin at secondary schools in New Zealand. It is his hope that this research will stimulate enthusiastic discussion of the status quote of foreign language teaching and facilitate preparations for the use of TBLT in language classrooms.

出生在教师世家的杨斯毅，每天会受到一位特级语文老师和一位特级英语老师的精心教导，没错，就是他爸妈！每每耳濡目染父母的教学风采，时时感受着为人师者的可敬可爱，他常常羡慕父母拥有这般伟大崇高的职业。从他能记事起，似乎每周都会有家长上门向父母道谢。

深受父母的熏陶，杨斯毅从小就有一个梦想，那就是希望能像爸爸妈妈一样成为一名“传道、授专业、解惑”的老师，这不仅仅是因为他欣赏老师的知识渊博，有时也欣赏老师创新的呈现方式，更重要的是他深刻地感受到教师职业的社会意义。 此外，他重视教师的形象，通常被称为园丁、蜡烛、慈爱的母亲、蚕和“人类灵魂的工程师”。 经过近二十年的努力，他终于实现了自己的梦想，成为了新西兰的一名教师。 他教过教过许多来自不同背景的学生。 走出去看世界的梦想，“传播教义、传授专业知识、解惑疑惑”的理想，两位一流父母教师的影响，以及他不懈的努力，使他的梦想得以实现。

在成为一名教师之后，杨斯毅深刻地意识到教授学生语言的重要性，这样他们就可以更好地相互理解，用于各种交际目的，并在他们的生活和职业中实现实际目标。 任务型语言教学是一种经过深入研究的教学方法，它似乎是实现上述目标的外语教学的前进之路。 因此，杨斯毅在博士阶段开始从事任务型教学法在新西兰中学对外汉语教学中的实施、挑战和益处各方面的研究。 他希望这一研究能够激发人们对任务型教学的热情，并为在外语教学中使用任务型教学做好准备。
