Valerio Terragni is a Senior Lecturer (Above the Bar) in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering at The Faculty of Engineering and Desing, University of Auckland, New Zealand, where he also serves as Program Director of the BE(Hons) specialization in Software Engineering. The Senior Lecturer title is equivalent to Associate Professor in Asian, European, and North American universities.

Before joining UoA, he was a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Informatics at USI Università della Svizzera italiana, Lugano. He received his PhD in 2017 from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) under the supervision of Prof. S.C. Cheung. Earlier, he completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy.

His current research focuses on automated software engineering, with particular interest in the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence (SE4AI and AI4SE). In particular, he works on metamorphic testing and automated test case generation, exploring methods to improve the reliability and robustness of AI-enabled systems. He is also actively engaged in advancing software engineering education.
